Electrical engineer Harold Rivandiniera from the National Electric Company (CNEL), organized a native fruit tree donation event at the Planet Drum greenhouse with CNEL contractors from around the Manabí province to receive trees for their ongoing Árbol Eléctrico (Electric Tree) campaign. Planet Drum has been providing CNEL with the trees for their community based tree planting campaign and since 2013 thousands of trees have been delivered directly to families living in rural areas of the province.
This year, the contractors are more engaged in the process than ever, and many of them asked for trees to take to their homes for planting, so that they wouldn’t be left out from the donation campaign. Harold talked about the importance of helping out the environment, especially the Dry Tropical Forest, and Orlando gave them a lesson in tree planting and tree care. Over 800 trees were collected by seven contractors who will in charge of overseeing the delivery and planting of the trees at various communities in the region.
