On Wednesday, July 6th, in the ‘Park of the Mothers’ at 3:30 in the afternoon with the students of the Fanny de Baird School we began the Bioregionalism class with the theme for the day: the flora of our bioregion. The students paid close attention and were interested in the materials. They asked a lot of questions and also participated with their own ideas. Orlando shared his perspective, which made the class that much better. Afterwards the students answered the questions at the end of the worksheet. I reviewed their work to make sure that they had answered well.
I should mention that we also had the company of an array of volunteers from England, Canada and the United States. The volunteers listened in on the class that we held.
On Friday, July 8th, we had a fieldtrip to the Cerro Seco Biological Reserve. All three classes from Genesis School, Fanny de Baird School, and Juan Pio Montufar School were present, along with volunteers from Canada, England and the United States. We walked through along the trails of the reserve, up and down the steep slopes and through ravines. Along the way we recognized and identified the different native tree species. Finally, at the end of the trail, we arrived at the beach. The students had a great time and the volunteers took a lot of pictures. Then we began our walk home along the beach.

Mediante el presente informo a Ustedes, que el día miércoles 6 de Julio del presente, en el Parque de las Madres siendo las 15H 30 a los estudiantes de noveno año de educación básica del Colegio Fanny de Baird se les impartieron las clases sobre el tema “Flora en nuestra bioregión.” Los alumnos estuvieron muy atentos e interesados en el tema durante el proceso de aprendizaje. Ellos hicieron muchas preguntas, y también participaron con ideas propias. El compañero Orlando participó con sus conocimientos reforzando aun más la clase. Luego, los alumnos contestaron las preguntas que estaban al final de la hoja de trabajo, las cuales, revisé constando de que respondieron muy bien.
Cabe señalar que tuvimos la compañía de varios voluntarios provenientes de Inglaterra, Canadá Y Estados Unidos, los cuales estuvieron como oyentes en la clase.
El día viernes 8 de Julio hicimos el recorrido por los senderos de la Reserva Cerro Seco. El paseo fue disfrutado por los alumnos de la Unidad Educativa Génesis, Colegio Fanny de Baird, Escuela Juan Pio Montufar y los voluntarios de Canadá, Inglaterra y Estados Unidos. Caminamos por los senderos, declives y quebradas de Cerro Seco. Todo el tiempo íbamos identificando y reconociendo las distintas especies de árboles endémicos, al final del recorrido llegamos a la playa. Los alumnos estuvieron muy felices. Los voluntarios se tomaron fotografías. Luego emprendimos el retorno caminando por la playa hasta la ciudad de Bahía de Caráquez.
