Tree Planting Workshop in San Vicente

An old acquaintance from San Vicente had been in touch with Orlando about planting trees in his neighborhood. Despite being a very impoverished area, most of the residents had beautiful gardens with lots of trees, plants, and flowers. They were very excited about receiving trees. We arrived with a group five volunteers and delivered 100 native fruit producing trees.

After meeting with the residents and planting a demonstration tree (to teach tree-planting techniques) the volunteers split into groups with the residents to plant trees in people’s backyards. Over fifty trees were planted in one afternoon. The remaining trees were donated to the residents to plant on their own. We had an excellent afternoon in San Vicente, and the residents were grateful for the assistance.
